Paddling a kayak at night is not as scary as one might think. Often at night the water becomes as calm as glass. Even without a moon, the placid water seems to be glowing, lighting your path. The ca. 1847 Egmont Key Lighthouse's white light rotates every 15 seconds and will help you keep your sense of direction while kayaking the bay at night.
Not every night is suitable for night kayaking due to weather conditions and possible thick fog. A thorough check of the local forecasts must be checked before any night trip. The bugs can be a bother closest to shore and when you stop or paddle very slowly. Bug repellant is recommended on all nighttime kayak tours.
